The house is set in one hectare of mature gardens, filled with Mediterranean plants. In spring it’s carpeted with wildflowers and blossom; when summer arrives, it fills with the scent of roses and jasmine.
At its heart is a swimming pool made of cedar wood, surrounded by lavender, rosemary, sage and oleander. There’s also a lily pond, home to lots of Pelophylax ridibundus – laughing frogs – who compete with the many birds who live and sing in the garden. The orchard is planted with mulberry, apple, plum and fig trees, as well as olives and cypresses. The barbecue area, close to the covered terrace, is perfect for outdoor summer cooking.
The garden leads to the Argens river, which flows all the way to the Mediterranean sea. Its cool, clear water is perfect for wild swimming or kayaking and there's a jetty to jump in from. Our long stretch of riverbank is a lovely place for picnics or sunset drinks.
